Gardening with Dad

Well Saturday morning we were all up bright & early to do gardening. Luckily it was a lovely sunny day so we could get lots done. I'm proud to say that most of the gardening was being done in my honour. Mum & dad are making the lawn wider so that my agility equipment fits better. It has nothing to do with the fact that I keep digging in all the flower beds I'm sure.

I had to rally the workers quite a bit as they took far too many tea breaks for my liking. Chop, chop people work to be done.

I was very useful to have around. Mum's gloves kept ending up all over the garden, so I helped out by running around, finding them & carrying them around. What a helpful little boy I am.

I know pink pretty gardening gloves aren't the most macho thing to be looking after, but I do think I look pretty cute. Mum didn't think so when she kept having to come & get her gloves back though, hehehe.

Look how much soil & old plants we dug out. We filled a whole skip! All the areas that are just mud on the sides of the garden will be turfed to make the lawn wider & mum & dad will have the two curved flower beds which I had to promise not to dig in, boo.

As it was hot work, I requested an ice cube break. Hmm, choosing which one to crunch first was a tough choice. Eeny, meeny, miney, mo...

Yum, good choice. Very refreshing.

What? Time to go back to work already? OK dad!

Dad painted the shed while I checked how full the rubbish bags were. Too much soil in them & they were too heavy to lift. As site foreman I felt that health & safety was my responsibility & I didn't want any injuries on my site.

Dad moved on to painting the fence. He doesn't reckon the lady who lived here before had ever treated the fence or the shed as he said the wood was really soaking up the paint. It looks so much smarter now.

It's like a whole new fence, so hopefully it will now last a couple of years. Do you see the trampoline next door? I love watching the neighbours kids bouncing on it. It looks such great fun!

While dad painted the shelf, I thought I'd get on & do some planting for mum. To show her how much I was going to take good care of the new plants & not chew them up you see! I found my trowel so I was all set.

There we go. So pretty. We need to put some bedding plants in for the summer. They'll spread & fill the gaps until these plants grow bigger.

Mum is going to cover the soil with pretty pebbles. I think it makes the lovely plants show up more. I think mum has an ulterior motive in that she thinks I'll be less likely to dig with the pebbles there. We shall see...

We still have a lot of work to do. There's a lot more fence to paint, the turf to lay & more flowers to plant, plus mum & dad want to jet spray the patio so it's all sparkly & clean. After that I think we'll be having a BBQ & party. You all want to come?

I think the pebbles look good. I like moving garden pebbles around into my own pattern and then perhaps dropping them on human toes. It keeps them busy putting them back again. Why don't you try it? J x

awwww...your garden is bootiful. It is still very cold and rainy here, so no gardening yet for us! I usually find a nice shady spot and nap while mum digs around in the dirt.

My mommy loves gardening, too, but it's soooo hot out that she hasn't done any lately.

Hey Oscar, what do you think is going on? My mum had a blitz on our garden on Sunday too...and that grass eating machine come out too. I don't think I like that, so I chased it up and down the garden!
