Cool New Friends

Sunday morning was another beautiful sunny day so we were all up bright & early to do some more gardening. I encountered a bit of a problem on the patio though. Scawie broom! I tried my best to scare it away from my agility tunnel!

Breakfast today was a huge chunk of oxtail. It was pretty tasty I have to say, & just what was needed after all that hard work chasing the broom away.

As dad continued to work, me & mum headed off in the car. I wasn't sure where we were heading, but I love riding in the car so I was happy. I soon realised we were heading to Nightingale Woods, my most very favourite place to go walkies! As soon as we turn into the lane that leads to the woods I start eagerly looking out of alternate windows trying to see how near we are.

When we arrived today, mum stayed sat in the car, which was very unusual. Normally we're off & away immediately. Mum said I had to be patient & there was a surprise on the way. I was most perplexed at this. Eventually my best pathetic face worked & mum let me out so I could at least wait outside in the sunshine.

Soon after we got out another car pulled up & I could hear barking. In the back I could see two dogs that looked just like me! I was so excited that I was jumping about on my lead eager for them to get out of the car! They are called Ralf & Molly. Ralf is 5 & Molly is 4. They belong to the same Airedale club as us & live quite nearby, so my mum & their mum thought it would be nice if we all met up for a walk. Thank you so much mums!

When we started walking I was jumping around Molly quite a lot as I was so excited to have some new friends. She told me off a few times, which I don't blame her for one bit. After 5 minutes we were getting along fine so we were both allowed off our leads to run about together. Whee, it was such great fun having a friend who likes running around like a crazy too!

We had a good scout about the woods to see if there was anything interesting to chase, but there wasn't much to see today.

We played ball. We played really nicely together. It was my ball but I was quite happy for Molly to chase it too. I'm not toy possessive at all. It got good & drooly with us both slobbering all over it I can tell you, hehehe!

Here we are in action. Excuse the mum's nattering away!

See, Molly liked my ball a lot, but that's OK. I prefer chasing it to anything, so I enjoyed tearing down the track with her then letting her find it. I am a nice, well mannered boy & know how to treat a girl.

Here I am waiting for Molly's mum to throw the ball for us again. She was a bit better than my mum at throwing it (not that that's saying much!).

Ralf doesn't really appreciate silly puppy's like me bounding all over him so he stayed on his lead. He was a lovely boy though. He didn't bark at me at all & maybe next time we meet he will feel more used to me. I felt a bit sorry that he had to watch me & Molly playing ball & running about, but he got lots of petting & some yummy treats, so hopefully he still enjoyed his walk. He is a real handsome chap & Molly is a pretty girl. They had been to have their coats stripped earlier in the week so they looked super smart.

About halfway round, we bumped into this handsome fellow. I can't remember his name, but his owner said it meant "big & gentle" which he certainly was. See, he has the Newfy spit going on?

He was 7 years old, but his coat was fantastic & he seemed super healthy & a really nice guy. Hopefully we'll meet him again soon.

Soon we got to the dog dip, & Molly had no hesitation in getting right in! Her mum wasn't very impressed with her, especially as she had just been groomed. I have to confess, I was encouraging her quite a bit. Sorry Molly! Hope you weren't in too much trouble. I did hear your mum mention a hose down in the garden when you got home, oops!

Molly is a muddy princess!

I was encouraging her from the shallows, what a naughty boy, tee hehehe.

We had so much fun chasing each other around. We would walk calmly for a while, then all of a sudden it would be play time again & we would be zooming around like crazies! The parents found it most amusing.

I just love to be chased, & I am getting quite fast now I am getting older & my bones & muscles are getting stronger. I think poor Molly was getting quite worn out, but she was having great fun.

Can you see my legs, ear & tail in this photo? They are a bit crazy!

What a fun walk. Ralf & Molly were the best, & their mum & dad were really, really lovely. We are going to meet up again after Easter to walk at their favourite spot & I can't wait to see them again.

Insanely envious and very, very jealous over here in never ending snow land. It just melted for pete's sake and now we're getting more.

I don't mind the broom & the mop! But sometimes those two evil things tend to disturb my beauty dog nap. I'm always forced to go outside the house or lie down on the couch(OMdoG! I hate the couch! It's too hot! HOT!)

Oh I love freedom. My mommy will usually bring me to the playground just down the road & let me & my sistas run free! So good ha?

Ooooh Oscar you met a newf! Wasn't he handsome? Not as handsome as me, of course, but since he was a Newf he had to be at least a little handsome!
